Not Your Average Dog-Friendly Restaurant
Let’s start this off by saying we absolutely loved this place. For so many reasons. Yes, they have plenty of tables, shade and they gave us a water bowl right away. But what we really loved is that we finally found a place we can enjoy football outside, with Rummy. So often, including your dog in your outings includes making many concessions to have them along. But in Quinn’s, we found a place we could enjoy the Game Day atmosphere without feeling like we were compromising too much. And the food and service were excellent as well. So let’s break down this dog-friendly restaurant.
First Things First: Access & Shade
We always comment on the lack of tables for al fresco dining because so many restaurants have only a few. Quinn’s has over a dozen, probably close to 15. And a mix– roughly half 4- and 2-tops and even a table for six. They’re also spaced very well so you don’t feel like you’re holding a conversation with the next table. Humans cherish our space and privacy, but so do dogs. And this extra bit of space did not go unnoticed. As the name suggests, Quinn’s is on the corner. So their patio spans both the front and side of the building. The outer tables (along the railing) have umbrellas to offer shade. The inner tables (those against the building rather than the rail) did not have an umbrella. It wasn’t an issue on our visit with the overcast weather, but you’ll want to be sure you have an outer table with an umbrella with the sun is kicking.
Service for Her
Rummy had a bowl of ice water within a minute of being seated. She actually received her water before we received ours, which is just fine with us. We like for her to start feeling comfortable as soon as possible and a clear space for her to sit with her own bowl of water does the trick. And it wasn’t just water. It was ICE water. Big deal? Maybe not. But those with dogs know that this is such a thoughtful treat. Couldn’t have asked for more in this regard.
Service for Us
This is where the service really stands out. And it’s probably atmosphere mixed with service, but overall we couldn’t have been more pleased. There are plenty of TVs inside for all of the games. That’s standard. But what happens when your dog is with you and you have to sit outside but still want to watch the game? At most restaurants–out of luck. But Quinn’s indoor TVs are mostly viewable from the tables close to the windows outside. Additionally, and here’s the big bonus, they have several TV at the windows facing the patio. They are clearly catering to their sports fans who want to sit outside. Which, by extension, means they are also catering to the parties which include four-legged companions. On top of that, one of the staff actually walked around asking if we were watching the game on our TV before changing the channel. That’s huge! There’s nothing worse on Game Day than expecting to watch a game and then have the channel changed. So courteous. Now, you probably won’t want to watch your team’s game from outside with no volume, but watching Game Day through the glass and just being around all of the football fans was fun and a perfect pre-game.
All of the Rest
As we’ve mentioned before, this is not a food blog, so our focus is not on the food. But we do LOVE good food. And drinks. And we’re not going to eat at a mediocre establishment just to include our dog. We were both beyond happy with our meals. To start, they provide a basket of spiced popcorn (in lieu of bread). I have no idea what the spice is but it’s savory and delicious and pretty perfect when you sit down and first get your drinks. Speaking of drinks…
Cheers!
Cheers!
It wouldn’t be brunch without mimosas! They offer $1 bottles of sparkling wine (one per person) with $10 carafes of juice. Juice options include OJ, peach nectar, grapefruit and passion fruit. The ice bag keeps the bubbly chilled.
Good, solid brunch entrees
Main Event
We had the Cheddar Bacon Waffle and the Corned Beef Hash. The Corned Beef Hash entree was big. Not so big that it’s unreasonable for a hungry guy to finish. But it was big enough that he felt totally satisfied after finishing. My Cheddar Bacon Waffle was kind of perfect. Maybe it was my mood, but I can’t imagine a day where I wouldn’t have been completely satisfied and happy with this entree. It was savory (I LOVE a legit savory waffle)– with cheddar baked right in. It wasn’t so big that I felt gross eating it, which is generally not the case with waffle entrees. It was topped with a sunny side up egg and bacon sprinkles. A pretty awesome brunch entree–solid, delicious, just the right amount.
Uber
If you’re going to enjoy brunch cocktails and don’t have a designated driver, be sure to take an Uber or cab. Most Ubers allow dogs. We always call once the driver has been set to confirm that they’ll allow Rummy as a passenger and we’ve only been turned down once. Calling immediately allows you to cancel right away if needed before incurring charges and wasting everyone’s time. You can enjoy brunch cocktails with your pup and not worry about your ride home!
Five Pups!
Finally, we give Quinn’s five out of five pups for access, shade, water and the big bonus–allowing us to include our dog in Game Day activities! Definitely not your average dog-friendly restaurant. We look forward to returning!
