The Jefferson

Dog-Friendly Hotel in Richmond, VA

The Jefferson is one seriously dog-friendly hotel. Pups are allowed everywhere in the hotel with the exception of the restaurants. This isn’t the case in most dog-friendly hotels, and certainly not hotels as luxurious as this. They welcomed us with bowls for her as well as a guide to dog-friendly shops, parks, etc in the area. We were there solely to experience the hotel during the holidays (a particularly stunning time for the Jefferson), so we only took advantage of one of the recommendations. But there were several and the hotel’s location in the city provides plenty of places for your pup to explore.

Because dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, we ordered food to go from the bar and took it to the second level of the lobby. The tables on this level have plenty of space between them, which allowed Rummy to feel more comfortable. And it provided a great view of the entire lobby and down onto the Christmas tree.

When we were ready for a change of scenery we explored the rest of the hotel. The shops, the long corridors and all of the Christmas decorations provided lots to look at. There was something for all of us, Rummy included. The hotel is located in the city, so her evening walk was around a normal city block with patches of grass for her to utilize.

The pet fee is $50 per pet, per night (dogs only). We give the Jefferson a 5-Pup rating because of access, comfort and a reasonable pet fee.
